I wonder as people look over the voting stats if they get a sense of what kind of generosity the church shows? To be honest, it's a pretty rough representation of the sharing hearts that I know from most of the people I serve beside.
I believe that we can show our community that the Church, not just our church, is truly generous!
It's crunch time. We can't wait any longer.
We need for everyone to pray about what they might do to support this and then act quickly if that's what is needed.

We are actually shocked at those numbers, given the reasons you listed in your post. I agree...it is kind of embarrassing...this is a great cause and you guys are working really hard to make something happen. It makes me sad that in a church family our size, more people couldn't step up. I am totally baffled. It doesn't diminish your efforts, guys! It is still a beautiful thing! :)

After thinking more about this, I am sure that it isn't our church not stepping up...we have a giving church with a great heart. I talked to a couple of people last night, and even with FB and billboards and stuff, they just have not been on top of it. This is such a busy time and many just lost track of this event. Initially, I think it was a pride thing for me...I love our church and I know what we are all about...I just didn't want low numbers to somehow reflect poorly on us. And there is still time...I am guessing many more votes will roll in. We have a church that steps up. I have seen that time after time. This is really about raising money to help men, women and children who have no place to live become self-sufficient and independant again. We can do this, community!!! Woo Hoo! :)

I'm with you Shelley. I got a little hot headed yesterday. I agree that people just have a bunch of stuff going on. The challenge is to capture people's attention long enough to hear how they can help others. We're doing MUCH better in the last 24 hours. God is good. I'm hearing that a few of the players who are actually going to the event will be a big help to us. Gonna be fun. Thanks for your support!

I'm reminded of when Jesus talks about giving in secret v. giving publicly, Matthew 6:1-4. I believe Jesus is telling us this so that we don't brag about our "acts of righteousness". It's not about us. There's always more than meets the eye. Just because it appears like no one is giving doesn't mean that no one is actually not giving.
No need to make things a matter of pride brother. Keep humble, and trust God.
